Meaghan graduated college with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling here in Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University.
After graduating college, Meaghan accepted a position in Connecticut at Cooperative Educational Services (CES), a special education school placement, working with middle and high school students who presented a variety of significant behavioral and emotional disabilities. Her immediate connection with students inspired her to continue working in the school setting in California at The Help Group (THG), a multidisciplinary, college preparatory day school for students with high functioning autism, anxiety-related disorders, and learning disabilities.
During graduate school, Meaghan interned as a School Counselor with the Redondo Beach Unified School District where she provided individual and group support to address social-emotional, academic, and college/career concerns. She accepted a permanent School Counselor position with RBUSD from 2018-2022, continuing to support students as well as parents and families with a variety of challenges.
Meaghan has been working as a therapist in private practice since 2018, assisting teens, adults, and families with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, friendships/relationships, divorce, self-esteem, identity and career exploration, grief/loss, trauma from the COVID-19 pandemic, and non-suicidal self-harm/suicidal ideation. She also speaks at presentations (e.g., mothers involved with NCL) addressing social-emotional concerns in the community.
With over a decade of experience working with people who have presented a wide-range of challenges, Meaghan's career opportunities have allowed her to effectively build trust, establish rapport, and create a genuine, positive relationship with others.
Meaghan works as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #14508) in private practice at Leah M. Niehaus, LCSW & Associates in Hermosa Beach. She works with teens, adults, and families and has been running therapy groups in the office since 2018. Meaghan holds a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) and is a member of the California Association for Licensed Professional Counselors (CALPCC).
Outside of work, Meaghan enjoys cooking, going to the beach, traveling, concerts, and spending time with family, friends, and her frenchie, Kiddo.
